THIAGO LAURINDO

Biologist & Member of Filhos de Gandhi

Thiago Felipe da Silva Laurindo is a biologist that specializes in the study of birds. He also is the Planning and Projects Director at Filhos de Gandhi. Filhos de Gandhi, founded in 1951, is a social organization always supporting, developing, generating and preserving Afro-Brazilian culture; through music, art, culture and faith. Their main objective is resistance against oppression and the reclamation of space. They do many things, including:  African dance and music exhibitions, regional and national popular music concerts, tours, lectures, artistic and cultural events, carnival parades, contracted presentations and many other expressions of Afro-Brazilian art.

A year after the Olympics, he talks about the revitalization as an Olympic legacy. The question is what revitalization means. The history of Rio de Janeiro should not look only to the future, but to its own past.
